If you’re looking for a dependable trail gelding or a solid partner to casually check cattle and enjoy around the ranch, Harley is your guy. With his quiet demeanor and soft personality, he is the kind that makes horse ownership enjoyable.

Trails and the pastures are where Harley truly shines. He’ll go just about anywhere you point him—through water, rocky terrain, over logs and obstacles, and across big open cattle pastures. He’ll ride out alone or in a group and has been exposed to tarps, wagons, ropes, dogs, goats, cattle, and plenty of commotion without being bothered. He is suitable for just about any level of rider on the trails as long as they’re confident with a faster paced walk! 

Harley was owned for several years by an older gentleman who used him as a backup ranch horse. He has moved cattle, loaded semis, and roped cattle in the pasture. He has also been left off for extended periods, saddled back up, and ridden off without silliness. We’ve hauled him to roping practice, where he handled the atmosphere with ease and helped bring cattle up to the roping chute. With additional training, he may even have potential as an arena rope horse.

While Harley isn’t a big-time arena horse, he has all the buttons the average rider wants. He knows both leads, has a phenomenal neck rein, decent stop and spin, and we’ve even loped him around bridleless with full control.

Harley is easy to catch, an easy keeper, and has shown us no vices while in our program. He gets along in different herd settings, respects fencing, has great ground manners, and is uncomplicated to saddle, bathe, and trailer. He transitions into new environments well and does not require a demanding routine to stay enjoyable.

Harley is UTD on Coggins and vaccinations and currently wears basic front shoes for our rocky trail terrain. He does have scarring on his right hind leg from getting tangled in a panel as a 2-year-old. It is fully healed but cosmetically visible. PPEs are welcome at the buyer’s expense. Flying B Equine is acting as the seller’s agent, and Harley is consigned to us, no fault of his own.
